There’s something so special about evenings at Smith Mountain Lake, VA, and this family session was the perfect reminder of why I love capturing memories here. The light was soft, the water was calm, and although the humidity was something else, it didn’t stop us from having the best time.
This sweet family brought such great energy to their session. The kids were absolutely full of life…running, laughing, and keeping us all on our toes. Their joy was contagious, and every moment felt genuine and full of love. I always say that the best photos come when kids are simply being themselves, and these little ones made that so easy. From giggles to silly faces, they gave us the kind of natural, heartfelt moments that make family sessions so memorable.
One of the sweetest touches was having the grandparents step in for a few photos at the beginning at of session as well. It’s always a gift to capture not only parents and children, but also the special bond grandparents share with their grandkids.
Even with the thick summer air hanging around us, the evening felt relaxed and fun. There’s something about Smith Mountain Lake that makes everything feel a little more magical.
