What started as an anniversary session quickly turned into a surprise proposal at Smith Mountain Lake that Madison never saw coming.

We began the evening with a boat ride around Smith Mountain Lake, capturing portraits along the way. Madison thought we were heading to her family’s dock to finish the session with a few more photos. Little did she know, Matthew had something much bigger planned.

As we approached the dock, she was greeted by a beautiful setup filled with flowers and candles. That’s when Matthew got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.

She said YES!

The surprises didn’t stop there. Family members who had been in on the secret the entire time were waiting nearby and came down to celebrate with the newly engaged couple. It was such a sweet moment to watch everything come together and see the excitement on Madison’s face.

After celebrating with family, we spent some time capturing “just engaged” photos around Smith Mountain Lake. Between the waterfront views, happy tears, and nonstop smiles, it was the perfect ending to an unforgettable evening.
