I had the sweetest time with the Stewart family during their extended family photography session at Smith Mountain Lake. Smith Mountain Lake is one of my favorite spots for family photos, and this session was a perfect example of why. The views, the space for kids to play, and the relaxed vibe make it an ideal location for creating genuine, joyful memories.
This session was extra special because it brought together multiple generations of the Stewart family. It’s always such a gift to capture extended family sessions like this. Moments where grandparents, children, and grandchildren can all be together in one beautiful place.
We explored several spots around the lake, finding quiet grassy areas with the water and mountains in the background. The kids were full of energy and so much fun to photograph. I love when families can just enjoy their time together during the session, and that’s exactly what the Stewarts did. Whether they were walking along the dock, laughing together, or playing with the little ones, they were fully present and genuinely connected. We ended the session on the playground, the kids absolutely loved it!
Smith Mountain Lake is such a versatile location for photography. The soft light, natural greenery, and stunning lake views always provide the perfect backdrop for timeless family portraits. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for family photography at Smith Mountain Lake.
